Catherine Foley

Catherine Foley is Director of Digital Library and Archive Projects at Matrix. She holds a Master of Library Science degree with expertise in metadata standards and digital repositories. She has experience working with semantic technologies and ontology development for the publication of linked open data. Since 2005, Foley has managed numerous digital repository projects with African cultural heritage resources including the Archive of Malian Photography (amp.matrix.msu.edu) and the Community Video Education Trust (cvet.org.za) digital archive. She currently co-manages Enslaved: Peoples of the Historical Slave Trade (enslaved.org) a Mellon Foundation-funded linked open data project with multiple international partners. Foley served as the Principal Investigator and project manager on two NEH Collaborative Research projects, Pluralism and Adaptation in the Islamic Practice of Senegal and Ghana: Collaborative Research and Scholarship on West Africa, and Islam & Modernity: Alternatives in Contemporary Senegambia and Ghana.
