The German Historical Institute’s Covid-19 regulations require that anyone who wishes to enter our building must show either proof of vaccination or proof that they have recovered from Covid-19 within the last 90 days. Inside the building, guests are asked to always wear masks unless they are actively eating or drinking. To minimize the risk of transmission during the conference we also ask attendees to affirm that they have recently tested negative for Covid-19.
We advise participants arriving in Washington directly from a foreign country to consult the official website of the US Department of State or the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) for the latest information on travel regulations concerning Covid-19. We will consider Covid-19 testing requirements relating to foreign travel sufficient for those who arrive in the U.S. within 48 hours of the start of the conference.
We ask local participants and participants arriving from elsewhere in the U.S. to take a Covid test (rapid or PCR) no sooner than 48 hours before the beginning of the conference. You may find information about testing centers in Washington, D.C. at this link. The most convenient testing center to the GHI is the Ward 2 COVID-19 Center at 926 F Street NW. As an alternative, you may wish to travel with your own testing kit and take a test before arriving at the GHI.
If you will be departing the United States after the conference, please be sure to inform yourself about any Covid-19 restrictions/regulations relating to travel to your destination country.
We ask all participants to notify us if they test positive for COVID-19 within five days after the conference ends.
