Daniel Stracke

Dr. phil. Daniel Stracke, M.A. is a medieval and urban historian at the Institut für vergleichende Städtegeschichte / Institute for Comparative Urban History (IStG). He has been working as a researcher, author, copy and cartographic editor of the German Historic Towns Atlas project since 2004. In 2019, he was appointed Convenor of the Atlas Working Group of the International Commission for the History of Towns. Daniel’s main research interests are the history of European towns, especially of urban spaces, the history of cartography, medieval religious communities, and the Digital Humanities. Just occasionally, he dabbles in GIS.
