
Dr Heiko Brendel studied political science, evolutionary anthropology, medieval and modern history, as well as human geography. He holds a M.A. (University of Mainz, Germany) and a M.S.Sc. (University of Lund, Sweden) and received his doctorate in medieval and modern history from the University of Potsdam (Germany). Since 2019, he is a senior researcher at the Chair of Digital Humanities at the University of Passau. Before, he was a lecturer at the Chair of Military History/Cultural History of Violence at the University of Potsdam and worked at the Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) in Mainz. Dr Heiko Brendel is specialized on historical geoinformation, quantitative methods, and military history.
